Mark Walker is a native Houstonian and has been a member of Elim Church since 1969. Shortly after graduation from South Houston High School Mark became a Houston Firefighter; a few years later he met his wife, Blanche, also a graduate of South Houston High School. While being a firefighter, Mark served on Elim's board of Elders and volunteered in the youth ministry. In 1994 God opened the door for Mark to become our youth pastor.
Mark and Blanche volunteered in various ministries throughout the years as; Sunday School teachers, children's ministry, preschool ministry, bass player in the worship band and then worship leader, all the while serving as youth pastors. After 17-years in youth ministry, Mark was called to Associate Pastor.
Mark retired from the Houston Fire Department after 35+ years when God presented him with the opportunity to become Senior Pastor of Elim Church. In July 2013, Pastor Ron Nissen, resigned as Senior Pastor and Pastor Mark Walker was installed as the new spiritual leader at Elim.
Pastor Mark & Blanche's desire is to preach the Word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit, to see lives changed, relationships restored, broken hearts and lives mended and most of all, for people to encounter a real and living God. As Pastor, Mark looks forward to the future with great expectation and strives to fulfill the call God has placed on Elim to be a refreshing oasis to the community and to the world. Pastor Mark & Blanche have three daughters and one son.
